The Barclays 2010 @ Ridgewood CC If you wish to attend The Barclays golf tournament this coming Saturday (August 28) for free please call (732) 221-9727 or email thefirstteerv@gmail.com immediately. TFTRV has 33 extra tickets that will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.
The First Tee of Raritan Valley has been very active at The Barclays golf tournament which represents the kickoff of the 2010 FedEx Championship. TFTRV members and associates have volunteered to man an entire concession tent. With this most gracious support we are making the 2010 Barclays a success and our chapter of The First Tee will generate a donation of between $5,000-$10,000 this year just from this event. Thank you for your support.

TFTRV Eagle student Matthew Lagarenne was selected to serve as a PGA Junior Course Reporter for The Barclays event this year. Matt (seen above with Paul Casey) was provided a behind the scenes look into the operations of the PGA Tour and all the other people and companies that make these events possible. He was also able to sit in on press conferences and meet some of the players. As part of his daily duties, Matt was required to write a blog for the PGA website. Please view Matt's blog and the blogs from participants from other First Tee chapters @ http://www.pgatour.com/2010/tournaments/r027/08/25/juniorbloggers/index.html. |

In an effort to make young female golfers aware of their ability to play in national championships, the United States Golf Association has asked for our assistance in promoting the U.S. Girls' Junior Championship.
The Girls' Junior Championship became a national championship in 1949. Entry is open to amateur female golfers who have not reached their 18th birthday by July 24th, 2010 and have an up-to-date USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 18.4. This year’s Championship will be held at The Country Club of North Carolina, in Village of Pinehurst, North Carolina, July 19-24.
Below is a copy of the application and promotional piece for the 2010 Championship. The cost is only $25 to play in the qualifier and many college coaches come to the Championship to scout the players. All girls under the age of 18 with a Handicap Index of 18.4 or lower are encouraged to participate. The link to sign up for the Girls' Junior Championship is on www.usga.org website. Entries close June 2, 2010.
